2/10/08 Design Development: Develop terrace/view use + ramp incorporation

I have been considering in depth the way in which I want the open spaces I have created in my design through roof overhangs and rooms placed on edges to be used.
I found that there are 3 main ways for which I will accomodate the coogee community in terms of public spaces incorporated into my design.

Use 1: A beautiful view which defines coogee in a relaxing atmosphere - requires view toward ocean, relatively quiet space.

Use 2: To watch a sport event - requires view of oval, may become a noisy area.

Use 3: A space for social gatherings in which to catch-up with friends - requires relatively quiet space in which to talk, no view necessarily required.

I thus considered all the possible outside roof area I have to use for various uses. The following drawings highlight the general division of spaces. I did not want to have every open space have a designated 'use' as I want people to experience the community spaces individually, yet a public viewing area, private social area and bench area to watch sport have been considered.

The first drawing also shows the placement of ramps to access the public outside areas. I really like the idea of enabling people to be involved with the community centre without necessarily using it internally. These ramps will not only achieve access to the roof where the view can be observed or sport can be watched, but will add to the dynamic exterior form of the design.

The following are different types of outdoor areas I would like to incorporate into my exterior roof areas.

I like this bench overlooking the view, and have drawn it into my drawings for the different outdoor area uses to aid watching sport.

I am conidering incorporating this semi opaque roof into the seperate environment for social gatherings.
